A brief stint in recruitment put me inside dozens of small businesses at close range. I learned fast that most owners are not short of ideas — they are short of time, short of hands, and quietly overwhelmed by the gap between where they are and where they want to be. That never left me.

ICB Level 2
In 2025, I took my ICB bookkeeping qualifications because I wanted to understand the numbers properly in my own businesses. The same instinct that made me want to understand every section of a kitchen made me want to understand every line of the books.

About the name
Ponzu is my Welsh Terrier. Named after the Japanese citrus soy sauce — sharp, distinctive, and impossible to ignore. He is tenacious, fearless, opinionated, and certainly never takes no for an answer. Seemed right for an agency.
